So on, so on... What is your thoughts on the mirrors that have the wide-angle area? I feel it distorts my idea of what the mirror shows...

Can’t say I ever noticed anything different about passenger side mirrors.

Here in the US, passenger side mirrors do have a different curvature that results in a wider field of vision but further depth perception. So objects in the passenger mirror actually do look further away than in the drivers mirror.

love asymmetric mirrors. It can screw up some stuff (i find i couldn’t use them initially for parallel parking) but overall i don’t see why all vehicles don’t come with them.

GM’s method is to use the English on the glass itself, and the French is on a sticker on the passenger front window.
Also, some of the pickup trucks (usually 3/4 and one ton models) have the option for flat glass on both sides. My Silverado diesel is this way, although mine has small convex spotter mirrors stuck to it.
